IRIS ultramodern Smart Manufacturing Complex with 330,000 sq ft.
of office and sophisticated manufacturing space was officially launched
by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Y.A.B Dato. Seri Dr. Mahathir
Mohamad on the 23rd March 1998.
Here is a small abstract of the keynote speech by the Prime Minister:
"......Today, I stand in Malaysia's first smart technology
complex, conceived by Malaysians, built by Malaysians, staffed by
Malaysians who are developing 21st century smart products and applications
based on smart technology innovated and owned by Malaysians. Ladies
and Gentlemen, it is precisely this kind of spirit of innovation
that I was talking about for the past decade........."

Tan Sri Razali Ismail acquires
30% interest in IRIS Technologies |
"As chairman,
I have had the privilege of assessing the performance and
vision of IRIS as an insider and I am well satisfied that
IRIS is poised to benefit from the opportunities offered by
the MSC initiative and is confident of introducing
locally developed technology into the international arena...
"I am excited by the quality of technology being developed
by IRIS and the innovative ways in which these technologies
are being converted into products." Razali, who is also
the former special adviser to the prime minister, served as
the president of United Nations General Assembly between September
1996 and September 1997.

Razali gets French award
KUALA LUMPUR, Tues -- United Nation Envoy
to Myanmar Tan Sri Razali Ismail, veteran Malaysian diplomat,
was today presented with the "Ordre Nation al du Merite"
(National Order of Merit) by the French Government.
The Award was created by presidential
decree on Dec 3, 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle and is
awarded tp French nationals and foreigners who have achieved
a certain degree of excellence in the civil service, military
or private sector.
The President of France is the Grand Master
of the Order. The Order is divided into several ranks, the
highest being "commander" followed by "Officer"
and "Knight".
The award was presented to Razali by French
Ambassador to Malaysia, Xavier Driencourt, at the French embassy
here.
