IRIS Corporation Berhad, the inventor of the world’s first ePassport and multi-application smart card have further strengthen their international ties. In a recent contract agreement with the Government of Republic of Guinea in West Africa, the 15-year agreement is valued at RM 793.21 million.

The global solution provider with core expertise in digital identity, business, farming and environmental solutions; IRIS has been contracted for the supply and implementation of secure chip technology solutions in the Republic of Guinea which include electronic passports, visa, permanent residence identification card and all its related software and hardware.

Dato’ Hamdan Bin Mohd Hassan, CEO for IRIS Trusted Identification Division stated that the President Alpha Condé is currently embarking on various policies to reform and revive the economic growth of Guinea. And with the country launching its very first ICAO compliant ePassport, the government of Guinea is taking positive steps in further improving the lives of its citizens.

“Due to our agility and extensive experience with ePassport projects, it only took us three (3) months to setup the Republic of Guinea Conakry ICAO”, commented Dato’ Hamdan. The Republic of Guinea will be launching its very first ePassport on 24 February and this will be officiated by Prime Minister Mohamed Said Fofana.
