IRIS Secures RM346M Contract in Senegal

On 2nd May, 2016 IRIS entered into a EUR76,200,000 (RM 346,189,000) contract with the Republic of Senegal’s Ministry of Interior and Public Security (MOI) to produce and supply 10 million new multi-application identity biometric cards based on contactless chip technology and 10 fingerprint biometry over a period of 5 years.

The contract is expected to contribute positively to ICB Groups earnings for the financial year ending 31st March, 2017 and the financial years thereafter for the duration of the Contract.

The Republic of Senegal is a country located in West Africa with its economic and political capital located in Dakar. Senegal covers a land area of almost 197,000 square kilometers and has an estimated population of about 13 million.

IRIS had previously, in 2007, entered into an agreement for a Build-Own-Transfer (BOT) implementation of Senegal’s Electronic Passport System for a period of 20 years.
